Does Taking Hydrochlorothiazide And Crestor Together Cause Cough?
I have been taking hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 with Crestor for treating high blood pressure. On several occasions I have developed a cough. If I quit taking Hydrochlorothiazide in a couple of days the cough goes away. Is the development of an allergic a possible side effect?
hi sir/mam,neither hydrochlorothiazide nor crestor cause cough as side effect.but as you have been experiencing it,while on those medicines, allergic reaction cannot also be ruled out.generally, such adverse effect is to be reported to the prescribing physician such that alternative anti hypertensive medication can be suggested and for close monitoring.i usually advise my patients with cough especially productive for >3 weeks to go for a chest x ray to rule out any infective cause.for dry cough, any anti tussive syrup with codeine can be tried.hope my explanation clears your doubts.any further doubts, please do write to us.i'm always here to address your concerns.thank you.take care.bye.
Actually it's the side effect of Crestor (Rosuvastatin) that make you cough, but Hydrochlorothiazide has a diuretic effect that make the respiratory mucosa is dry and easy to inflammed.
Consult to your doctor if this is bothering you.
Take care,
