Does Taking Metformin And Metoprolol Tartrate Cause Headache And Dizziness?

I have been waking up with a headache and feeling dizzy the last few days. It gets better by late afternoon, but does not go completely away. I have diabetes and my blood sugar was at 174 this morning, which is on the low end for me. I take MetForman and Metropol Tratrate. What could be causing it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Suggestive of hypotension. Based on the given history your seem to be suffering from postural hypotension in which blood pressure can fall when a person changes from prolonged bed rest or sitting position to a standing position. The blood pressure lowering medication metoprolol appears to be responsible for your low blood pressure. I advise you to consult your treating doctor for a possible dose reduction of metoprolol or for an effective alternate but a safer medication to control your high blood pressure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
