Does Taking Hydrocodone With Acetaminophen Cause Mental Confusion?

My 88 year old mother started taking hydro condone with acetaminophen for a lumbar compression fracture on Friday. This morning she said she was talking to her dead sister and now she just called me at 1030 at night saying it was raining and she is waiting for her bus. What is going on with her? Side effects from the drug? She is alone as my dad is currently in the hospital. She is talking very crazy stuff. Also states there are many people with her there.
