Does The Heart Shaped Uterus Has High Risk During Pregnancy?
I found out at 10 weeks pregnant that I have a heart shaped uterus. I was high risk and I feel my doctor did not care for me as a high risk pregnancy. I came in to my doctors office at 33 weeks telling her I gain 20 lbs in one week and my whole body was swollen. At 34 weeks I gave birth to my daughter and she passed away. I had preeclasima. I asked my doctor to test me and make sure the baby is ok. My doctor said I was fine. No one ever talked to me why I m high risk or even gave me the care I needed. Would I have a lawsuit against my doctor?
When you mention heart shaped uterus, I presume, you refer to arcuate uterus. Due to this developmental error of the uterus, sometimes, the uterine distensibility is affected which may result in early deliveries or termination of pregnancy.
Regular follow up by ultrasonography can give indications and guidance for management. Sometimes, medicines to supress the uterine contractions may help, but there are doubts on this point.
Usually arcuate uteri do not require surgical correction unless it is of severe degree.
Please discuss the issue with Consultant Obstetrician.
