Hello,
I had a vaginal ultrasound scan for suspected ovary pain and although my ovaries were fine they were concerned about endometrial thickness ("8.3mm and a mass of mixed echogenicity measuring 11mm lower down in the cavity") and the possibility of a polyp.
I was referred for a hysteroscopy which I had yesterday under a general anaesthetic. There was no polyp but they took a biopsy and I am now waiting for an appointment to go back for my results.
I am 46 years old with no signs of menopause as yet, no bleeding or excess unusual pain. I am on the pill (dianette - 10+ years) and consequently don't have periods to speak of. I am in excellent health generally, eat well, do plenty of exercise, don't drink or smoke and have always maintained an average weight. I have never had any children.
I am concerned about the risk of uterine cancer, especially as I was referred under rapid access and the whole process from ultrasound to gynaecology to hysteroscopy has taken less than a month.
I'm wondering if my use if the pill could have masked some symptoms?
Any thoughts? I'm genuinely not looking for reassurance just an honest opinion.
Thank you :-)
