Does Thickening Of Tissue In Uterus Need Hysterectomy?
My 73 year old mum went to the doctor (after 12 months) because of pain on the right side of her abdomen no bleeding involved. She was convinced it was ovarian cancer!! My mum started menopause at 40 years of age after the unexpected death of her father. Her last period was not long after this. Her GP sent her for an ultrasound, the results indicating thickening of the tissue which in turn led to a biopsy and now the specialist s secretary has phoned fast tracking an appointment, saying that Mum needs a hysterectomy. I understand that without conclusive evidence it is difficult to give advice, but I was wondering if you could give me some sound reasons as to why a hysterectomy is necessary
I really appreciate your concern. You mentioned about some uterine tissue thickening. I could be early cancer sign. In that case hysterectomy is advised. But I cannot draw conclusion without exact biopsy report. So I advise you to visit the specialist and ask for the valid indication for hysterectomy in your mother.
Hope my answer has solved your query. Take Care.
Thank you.
Best Regards. Dr. Manan
