Does Too Much Of Pain Medication Cause Cramps After A Bowel Movement And Weakness?
My husband is in the hospital and is on delaudid for pain every four hours. He sleeps most of the time, does not want to eat (even though they are giving him something to increase his appetite), has cramps after a bowel movement, has burning when he urinates. When he is awake he is not coherent, he is very weak and can't walk without assistance. Could it be he is getting to much pain medication (oh, he is allergic to morphone).
Hi Delauid it is hydromorphine narcotic which has side effects like drowsyness nausea confusion addiction constipationmalabsorption and other abdominal side effects. The abdominal side effects does not allow proper digestion and absorption which cause decrease in minerals and vitamins which indirectly leads to muscles spasm and weakness. Get well soon. Thank you.
