Does Uti Causes Permanent Incontinence?

I got a really bad U.T.I about a year ago, I started to have Incontinence. I went to my Dr. and they gave me antibiotics and anti bladder spasm medications. It worked, my U.T.I was gone but my bladder leaking never stopped. I've gone to a urologist and have several evasive tests done and been on several bladder medications and yet nothing has helped my incontinence. I just don't understand how a simple urinary tract infection could cause me to be permanently incontinent. Help

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

A urinary tract infection is not the cause of incontinence, but it is the
associated symptoms with underlying condition which caused
incontinence and there was simultaneous urine infection.

Hope this information will help you to understand it precisely.
Take care!

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
