Does Vaginal Spotting During Pregnancy Indicate Miscarriage?

Hi, I am 9 was pregnant and had a ultrasound a week ago. There was a heart beat. Three days ago I started spotting. I do not have back pain or cramps. The blood appears brown rust, red, orange, and /or pink. When I wipe there can be no blood or a enough that I need to wipe two or three times. I am wearing a pad as a precaution and it is stained but not as much as a period flow. I have had a successful pregnancy before. I noticed that the last time I wiped it smelled more like a period. Is miscarriage imminent?
