Does Ventral Hernia Cause Bouts Of Hiccups Followed By Coughing Phlegm?
My husband has a ventral hernia and occasionally has bouts of hiccups followed by coughing to bring up phlem whch i seems to have collected in his throat, often with difficulty to clear. Is this a symptonof the ventral hernia and shouldhe have it repaired?
HI. IT is the other way . Chronic cough can cause hernia. First of all you have to get the coughing controlled or the hernia surgery will get failed and he will have a recurrence. Since the cough is with phlegm , it is indicative of an infection an d/ or allergy at the root . Get this investigated and treated by blood tests / X-ray chest/ Pulmonary function tests and give antibiotics and supportive medicines so that the coughing has to be cured. Then only you can go for hernia surgery/
