Dog Bite. Painful Foot, Small Scratches. Given Anti Tetanus. Dog Died. Worry?
hello... i am worried with my 4 yr. old son because yesterday morning when he went outside the house he saw our dog and played by kicking his right foot with him( which he usually did) but it suddenly bite him and pulled the sleeper that caused my son to get fell down. we never saw that because we were outside the house, just my niece told it. i thought its just an accident. then after lunch when i took my son a bath he said its painful in his right foot, when i looked at it i saw a very small 2 scratches. thats the time im asked him if its a dog's bite and he said yes. at 9pm we decided to bring him to a doctor and he gave him anti rabies vaccination and anti tetanus. And this morning, i got nervous when the dog died... there's no need to observe him w/in 10 days because its confirmed he has rabies already...we did not determined that he already affected by rabies :( pls. help me doctors if my son already have rabies? is safe w/ anti rabies vaccinations?
I advise you to complete the full schedule of 5 doses of anti rabiesvaccination as advise by your doctor.
And you can discuss the need for antirabies human immunoglobulin which will provide immediate and additional protection against rabies in addition to anti rabies vaccines.
