Dog Bitten, Area Biten Is Turnig Red And Harder Day By Day, Had Tetanus Injection. What Is Other Treatment And Am I Infected?
I was bitten in the leg by a dog just under a week ago. There is still alot of bruising and the area around bite marks have gotten redder each day. I got a tetanus shot and was on antibiotics but had to stop them because they made me physically ill. Today, I notice that the area around the bite has no become very hard and I m worried about infection.
Hi, Your symptoms suggest that the inflammation is increasing. You should immediately get the ARV, anti-rabies vaccine after getting the wound assessed by a specialist as the dosage varies with the class of the wound. You may get the intramuscular doses as these are lesser and more convenient and offer better protection. You would need local daily dressing to avoid infection and change the antibiotic to something that suits you. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
