Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.
For me there are two concerns here :
1. Physical injuries due to jumping of the dog on child belly both externally and internally.
2. If there are external injuries like scratching with dog legs and
vaccination status of the dog for
rabies.
Observe the child for any development of vomitings or distention of belly, or any painful tender points in the abdomen. And if you find any abnormality consult the emergency department.
Coming to second issue, if there are any scratchings on infant belly caused by the dog, check the vaccination status of the dog for rabies.
If it the dog is up to date for rabies vaccination, nothing to worry and observe the dog for 10 days.
And child can be considered giving rabies vaccination if there is scratching if the dog is not vaccinated appropriately or any abnormality noted in the dog health after 10 days from the incident.
And physical examination by a
Pediatrician is important to look for any internal organ damage as the child is too small to indicate any symptoms of concern.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
