Done FNAC For Swollen Lymph Nodes. What Does Epithelioid Cell Granuloma With Plasma Cells Mean?
My, wife had a swollen lymph node just below her right shoulder. Doctor asked us to get the FNAC done, folllowing is the report of FNAC SPECIMEN FNA RIGHT SUPRA CLAVICULAR SWELLING GROSS BLOOD TINGED ASPIRATE MICROSCOPIC EXAMINATION SMEARS SHOW AN OCCASIONAL EPITHELIOID CELL GRANULOMA WITH FEW PLASMA CELLS AND HISTIOCYTES. DIAGNOSIS FEATURES ARE SUGGESTIVE OF A CHRONIC GRANULOMATOUS LESION; POSSIBILITY OF A TUBERCULAR LESION MAY BE CONSIDERED. COMMENTS ADVISED CLINICAL CORELATION. HISTOPATHOLOGICAL EXAMINATION FOR CONFIRMATION OF DIAGNOSIS AND FURTHER SUBTYPING.
FNAC report suggests that the cells present inside lymph node are due to infection and more probably its tubercular infection( Tubercular Lymphadenopathy). Further examination will confirm the diagnosis. Next step is to go for histopathological examination and if Tubercular lesion is confirmed, Start Anti Tubercular Treatment (ATT).
