Done Blood Test. What Are The Findings From The Report?

I just had a wellness test with blood taken at my employment. The blood test came back with a potassium level of 5.5 and my red blood cell count was 5.23 and hematocrit 51.4. I know I should go to my doctor because of these numbers but was trying to find out what they meant exactly and how worried I should be. Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Let me explain you few things as.
1 Potassium level 5.5 mmol/L ( normal 3.5-5 .0 mmol/L).
2 Red Blood Cells 5.23 million /cmm( normal 4.50-5.90 million / cmm )
3 Hematocrit 51.4 ( normal 41-53.).
In your case only mild degree of hyper potassium level present , so need not to worry as most of fruits are rich source of potassium . So avoid fruits for few days and than get in blood for potassium. Still found high level than consult a doctor.
Other two reports are normal so nothing to worry.
Good luck. Dr. HET
