Done Blood Work, High Platelets. Concerned

I just got back my blood work. My hemoglobin is 8.9, MCV is 68.4, MCH is 20.7, MCHC is 30.3, RDW is 16.8 and platelets are 492. I know my iron is really bad but my biggest concern was that my PCM was caught off guard as to why my platelets were high and the others low. I don t want to be super concerned until the referral goes to the hematologist . I am 39, weigh 147 and am 5 8 . Thanks

Hi, Welcome to HCM, I am Dr. Das,
First of all, you said your iron is really bad, So, in iron deficiency anaemia all the test results are common.
As fer as platelet count is concerned i think first go for a manual platelet count which will confirm the report. Otherwise it is not of so much importance.
