Done Hernia Repair Surgery. Infrequently Passing Stool, Fever. What Is The Problem?
Hi, my mother had an incisional hernia repair operation through mesh hernioplasty. she passed the stool 2 days before the surgery and today on the 3rd day of surgery she passed the stool now.. she is in fever that come and go with a maximum fever of 101.4 degree Fahrenheit.
Most likely your mother has some infection in the incision area. It can be caused by blood collection in the soft tissues (hematoma), fluid accumulation, mesh infection (this is the most unwanted possible reason). There might be some redness and swelling present in this area.
As there is the mesh inserted witch if infected should be removed, I suggest your mother to visit general surgeon and have it checked. Wound inspection and/or ultrasound seems to be necessary to find the reason. Antibiotics should be prescribed as well.
Hope this will help.
Regards.
