Done Hysterectomy Due To Enlarged Uterus And Fibroids. Taking Methamozole For Graves Disease. What Are The Risks Of Surgery?

Hi, I recently had a hysterectomy on 10/17/13 because of an enlarged uterus and fibroids. Prior to that I had been Dd=X with Graves Disease because of high TSH, T3 and T4 and took 40 mg of Methamozole for this and have a thyroidectomy scheduled for 11/13/13. But since my hysterectomy I have become hypothyroid and am still taking 10mg of the methamozole for my Graves Disease every other day per my doctor s recomendation. I was told that there are higher risks when you have a thyroidectomy with hypothroidism and want to know what the risks are for going ahead with the surgery on 11/13/13 and what would have caused my body to go to the exact opposite with my thyroid disease? I have been doing a lot of research and can not come up with any real answers. Thank you for your help!

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Dear Ma'm, it is not clear why are you undergoing thyroid surgery? Graves' disease can be easily managed with medicines or radio ablation. It is only for compression symptoms or cosmetic reasons that surgery is opted. as to your hyperthyroid becoming hypothyroid can be due to drugs and need dose adjustment if your diagnosis of graves' is correct. Regards!
