Done Lumpectomy. Negative Mammogram. No Calcification Seen. Chances Of Cancer?
Hi just had a lumpectomy done yesterday. I have had a lump the size of a walnut for about a year now. Had a mammogram in March came up negative. Pain got worse about 3 days ago so I had a lumpectomy done yesterday. Doctor said it was a hard mass but when he cut into it no calcification was seen. It was sent to pathology . What are the chances of it being cancer?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. A painful lump with a negative mammography is more likely to be a benign lump in the breast. Such lumps are usually inflammatory i n nature. The histopathology report will confirm. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal , drtayal72@gmail.com
