Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, my husband had Mitral Valve surgery, whereby the surgeon was able to repair it. This was about 7 years ago. We went to the gym and worked some machines and after that he felt a strange sensation in that same area. He is also belching often, moreso today. Could the exercise cause any damage to the Mitral Valve even after it was repaired 7 years ago? Could belching have anything to do with it as well. My husband is now 72. Thank you. Suzanne Ruggiero
Belching has nothing to do with it. Either directly or indirectly.
Exercise does not directly affect the Mitral valve. There could be indirect influence from increased venous return / sympathetic stimulation and so on. Isometric exercise increases intra-thoracic pressure and is not good.
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
