Done Tonsillectomy. Taking Vicodin. Has Tongue Pain, Cuts On Tongue. Allergic To Medicine?
My daughter is 5 days post op from A tonsillectomy, she is on a generic form Of Vicodin and is complaining of tongue pain. It looks as though she has cuts all over her tongue. Is she allergic to Vicodin? Also, she saw a partner ENT today bc of scab falling off and clotting on one tonsil area. We are watching clot closely for the next few days. She just took more Vicodin about 15 minutes ago. Should I be concerned?
Hello user As per the history, your daughter is a post op case of tonsillectomy and taking generic form of vicodin.
During tonsillectomy procedure, the tongue had to be kept pressed by a instrument called mouth-gag. I think the scars on the tongue is due to that mouthgag only.
I dont think its due to allergy by vicodin or any other painkiller.I would rather suggest you to let it seen by your ENT surgeon, if pain and problem persists.
hope my info helped you regards, Dr Hari Om Chandrakar MBBS
