Hello My father of 66yrs has just had a chest xray. It has said this his heart is prominent,An opacity seen through the heart shadow presumed to be a hiatis hernia. the lungs are little overinflated, some areas of linear scarring but no convincing active lesion could be identified. there is probably a background of chronic airways disease. there is an unfolded aorta. Could you please explain what this possibly all means.
heart is prominent means size of heart of increased. hiatus hernia is a type of herniation of in which GE junction is pushed upward in thoracic cavity. lung are overflated means increase in air in lungs. chronic airway disease means a long history of disease. unfolded aorta have no much significance.
