Double Fracture In Foot, Plaster Cast In Knee. Bad Smell After Getting Wet. What Can I Do?
Hi. I have a double fracture in my foot and in plaster cast to my knee . I m a race cox for a rowing team which have just been racing. Last week my cast got wet in the rain, tried to time it so I wouldn t get wet. Phoned a doctor they said it should dry out, 5days later it s not 100%dry and smells awful. What can I do? Hospital aren t keen on changingu cast. As have a review next week. Please help.

From the details which you had described first I would advice you to visit your orthopedic surgeon, better than talking on the phone, if possible get the plaster removed and get a new one applied. Bad smell inside the plaster is related to macerated skin inside the plaster with secondary infection.
