Doubt Of Having Shingles. Can Vaccination Be Taken Now To Heal And Protect Others From Infection?

Hello:

I am 46 yrs old and believe I have the shingles.. I have viewed pictures of the disease online and compared them and the pain to what I experienced a few months ago.. Can I get the vaccine for it or is it to late?? I do have healthcare coverage. My kids at home have not had the chicken pots so I am worried and want to protect them as we'll as heal myself.

Even if you have had shingles in the past you may still receive the vaccine for shingles from your doctor. The vaccine protects you but really does not have much bearing on protecting your kids since catching chickenpox from a person with shingles is pretty uncommon. You children should receive the chickenpox vaccine as the best way to protect them.
