Draining Ear Fluid After Dizziness. Is Putting Shim From Sliver Of Bone Safe?

wife was dizzy. ENT doctor lanced the ear drum and inserted drain. Four weeks now and apparently the fluid draining still is spinal fluid and dr wans to go into her skull and put a "shim" from a sliver of her bone between the outer layer of the brain and the apparently worn away bone. Is this a safe and reasonable operation?

Hi, Your wife is dizzy, ENT surgeon lanced the ear drum and inserted a drain, since 4 weeks still draining, doctor advised mastoidectomy.
Of course it is the second option, but they can try to have culture and sensitivity of the discharge, and treat accordingly, but if your doctor feels it urgent you can go for that simple surgery, before that it may be prefered to have the test, to have a quick healing.
Thank you.
