Dry Cough, Mucus In Throat. What Could Be The Reason?
I have had a dry cough/tickle for a week with mucus in my throat in the morning that goes away in a few hours but not the cough and the cough would get really bad at random times maybe once or twice a day but its been more frequent today and when it gets bad several coughs are forced out that are really bad and I feel like ill gag and earlier when i took a deed breath from my nose it helped and if I breath deeply in and out from my nose then I will only cough once every 10-40 minutes instead of 10-40 seconds...What do you think this is?
Hi, It seems that you are having acute Pharyngitis giving irritation in the throat resulting in cough bouts. Due to irritation there is tickling sensation in throat producing cough. Go for antibiotic medicine course. Avoid cold drinks and junk food. Do listerene gargles. ok and take care.
Hello from HCM, The mucus and dry cough is probably due to a sinus infection. Sinusitis will result in a thick postnasal drip and that can give rise to the throat irritation and mucus/phlegm in throat. After physically examining your nose/throat and chest, you will probably need a good course of broad spectrum antibiotics. In the meantime you can take steam inhalations, will help open up the sinus ostium and provide some relief. Hope this helps.
