Dry Patch On Back Of Throat, Painful To Swallow, Poking While Drinking Water. Reason?

I have a dry patch in the back of my throat, it's very strange and it becomes painful to swallow, almost like something poking ny throat. This usually happens when I drink water, and the more water I drink, the worse it gets. Sodas do not make it dry, but I don't want to drink dozens of sodas a day, I would prefer to drink water, but I barely do because it always gives me a dry patch that becomes painful! It's very annoying! What is wrong with me?

Hello dear,

All these symptoms indicate that you might be having Pharyngitis.

Management includes:
1. Gargle with warm salt water to relieve throat pain.
2. Analgesics like paracetamol
3. Antibiotics depending upon culture & sensitivity reports.
4. Antihistamine preparations can also be used to provide symptomatic relief.

If symptoms still persist...it will be better to consult an ENT specialist.
Meanwhile...avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy foods.

Wish you good health & a speedy recovery.
Thanks & take care.
