Dull Ache In Right Leg Near Upper Thigh Down To Knee. History Of Being Diagnosed With Arthritis, Overweight. Any Connection With Sciatica?
Ive been having a dull ache in my right side for approx. 2 weeks. I have problems with numbness & tingling at night once I lay down to sleep. This happens on my right leg-upper thigh area down to the knee. I suspect this has something to do with my sciatic nerve bc I have had lower back pain. Ive been diagnosed with arthritis, age 58, over weight. Now my right side is hurting. Its a dull ache that isn't going away. located in the right side kinda near my waist area. when I turn my waist it seems to hurt worse. Do you think this has to do with my sciatica?
Hi..it could be a radiating pain from the lower back due to nerve root compression. When it is severe you will also develop weakness of the leg. Overweight is a risk factor both for sciatica and arthritis, so reduce your weight. If it is simple muscular strain it should subside with muscle relaxants. Kindly get examined for the needful. Take care.
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM There is no mention in the description whether the pain occurs in the "Front" portion of the thigh or "back" portion of the thigh. Generally, pain arising from the hip joint can be felt in the "front" portion of the thigh as well as in the inner aspect which will radiate upto the level of the knee joint only (and will not go beyond that level). Whereas pain arising due to sciatic nerve compression will be felt in the "back" portion of the thigh and may go upto the level of ankle and toes. So, I feel that your pain is not due to sciatica. Get an evaluation done for your hip joint and propably you will find the culprit of your pain.
Hope this helps
