Dysphagia, Choking, Headache, Neck Pain. CT Scan And X Ray Done. Suggestions?

c- 6-7 fusion in 1993 , ACDF at c 5-6 with plate and screws in 2008. fell on back and neck in 2011 and have increasing pain and symptoms since. X-Ray states large anterior inferior endplate spur of c-4 . CT scan indicates superior screw of c-5 hardware projects into the c-4 c-5 disc space anteriorly. I am having horrible symptoms. Dysphagia, throwing up , closing throat , choking. Arm, shoulder neck and headache pain if I bend neck up or down. Now am waiting for a MRI. I have been going through this for 7 months and everybody seems to be dragging their feet on this one. I also get real weak legs I am in misery most of the time. Have any suggestions ??? Help !!!

Hi
This is post-op. complications, go for a second orthopedic opinion or you can go to some high tech ortho institute, mean while you can discuss the problem with your ortho-surgeon, no need to be apprehensive otherwise this could bring anxiety depression that causes dysphagia, GRED , & other illusive symptoms, for dysphagia try some proton pump inhibitor (Omeprazole 40mg once day ) would relived the problem

Thanks for your query. These are the symptoms of nerve compression.
I would suggest you the following things
•     Physiotherapy of the Cervico-thoracic spine and adjacent region.
•     Get your MRI done on urgent basis; this will reveal the compression site which may be treated by surgery.
•     You are advised to go for physiotherapy and make your movement gradually and slowly, particularly when bending neck up or down.
•     Bone Collars will help you to reduce the problem.
If you don’t get relief, plz let me know on pakheim@gmail.com pakheim@yahoo.com
Hoping that you will get benefit from my advice.
My prayers are with you.
Thanks and best regards.
