Hi,

Achlasia is a disorder of the muscles of the oesophagus leading to swallowing difficulties. It usually has two components: 1) failure of propulsive or peristaltic contraction of the muscles of the body of the oesophagus. 2) failure to relax of the lower esophageal sphincter. Both lead to obstructive symptoms and gradual dilation ot the oesophagus.

Buscopan contains the active ingredient of hyoscine butylbromide which belong to the group of medications known as anti spasmodic is used to reduce spasms of stomach, intestines, bladder, urethra by relaxing smooth muscles within the stomach, bladder, intestines, urethra. Buscopan is an inhibitor of GIT motility that is the natural contraction of the gut which is necessary to process food into energy. It paralyzes the oesophagus and achlasia or narrowing or spasm of the oesophagus is made worse when the natural contraction of the gullet is inhibited.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
