EKG Stated Contour Abnormality Consider Inferior Myocardial Damage. What Next?
I just came back from my family physician and had an EKG which was different from the one last year on the paper it stated contour abnormality consider inferior myocardial damage I was told to go to my cardiologist make and appt which I did and the person at desk told me it could have been a lead not prpoerly placed is that possible.I am a little concerned never had any problems before
Did you have any chest pain or other symptoms for which an EKG was done?
Usually the automated machine interpretations printed on the EKG are not to be believed, unless confirmed by a qualified doctor.
Wrong lead positioning can reverse the waves, or give different contours.
Please follow the cardiologist's advice and if in doubt, he/ she will advise a repeat EKG with correct lead placement under supervision.
Take care and please keep me informed of your progress.
Good Luck !
