Endoscopy Shows Damage In Stomach On Left Side. Met Accident While Skiing, Had Fractures. Is Operation Required In Stomach?

hello I had a serious skiing accident 18 months ago - major chest trauma - fractured sternum and 3d image showed bone shattered at bottom/back, fractured ribs, detached zyphoid, and chest and stomach detached, left rib cage displaced - lower & more forward than right side . I have been having problems in zyphoid area and under left ribs, and poor balance - cant seem to engage stomach muscles fully. An endoscopy now shows damage to my stomach on left hand side. will I need an operation to repair?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The shattered bone in the chest wall is mostly treated conservatively. Now after 18 months of injury, surgery is not usually required. You can start with regular physiotherapy and muscle relaxants orally to decrease the pain.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. You can consult me again directly through my profile URL http://bit.ly/Dr-Praveen-Tayal
