Enlarged Lymph Node On Carotid Artery. CT And MRI Did Not Reveal Much. Should I Undergo Biopsy?

I've had palpable lymph nodes in my groin for years, but I recently noticed an enlarged lymph node on left side of neck on carotid artery that was never there before. It's been there now for about two weeks. No pain and no other symptoms. I can actually see the bulge/lump in the mirror. It feels like a ball, and is about the size of a large grape. I am female and 52 and thin. I have not had any symptoms of a virus for at least 4 years now. I had an ultrasound to check if it was a clot, but it didn't come out clear enough so they redid the ultrasound and said it was a lymph node. Had a CT scan after the first ultrasound and they said that it was my carotid artery and didn't see any abnormality. Should my doctor do a biopsy right away or just wait and see if it gets bigger? If it doesn't get any bigger is it still possible to have lymphoma?

Hi thanks for your question.
You’re having lymph node in your groin from last many years and now a new lymph node has appeared in your neck and you didn't had any infection in your chest or throat in recent past. Though your CT is normal but it is better for you to rule out lymphoma by biopsy rather than waiting for lymph node to increase and then go for biopsy. Even if biopsy turns out to be negative, for lymphoma (Hopefully) it will relive you of tension. Go for biopsy.
Hope this answers your question.
