Episode Of VT Before Undergoing Heart Surgery CABG, Ventricular Aneurysm Repair, History Of AWMI. What Is The Probability Of ICD After Undergoing EPS?

One of my acquintance M67 has undergone heart surgery CABG * 1 graft (LIMA to LAD) and ventricular aneurysm repair (linear ) about 2 months back. 1 month before tha surgery, he had an event of VT and was medically converted. The surgery was delayed for a month due to dilated heart. The patient has a history of AWMI , 9 years back is non diabetic and used to smoke until 6 months back. Please advice on what is the probability of the patient needing ICD after undergoing EPS study now, Who are the good doctors, type of ICD and cost that may be involved in this, Regards AM

Dear patient,

The best doctors to evaluate his conditions are electrophysiologists so he is in good hands; the EPS study will be to see if they are able to reproduce the VT in the setting of a dilated heart; if this happens, then he may qualify for an ICD for prevention of sudden cardiac death; these days the total price of an ICD is about 35.000 dollares, but this can vary.
