Episode Of Dizziness, Blackout For A Few Minutes After Drinking Water On A Hot Day. Cause?
a couple of days ago i had a drink of water and i felt really dizy. i walked around a bit a i slowly lost my eye sight. within 5 minutes i had completly lost my eye sight and i could barly walk. i layed down and my friend brought me some water. after an hour i was ok, but what happened to me also it was really hot that day and i felt like i was about to faint
The description fits with 'vasovagal syncope'. This means in simpler terms an episode of giddiness, followed by loss of balance and sometimes fall. There is sudden reduced blood supply to brain due to low blood pressure and hence transient loss of eye sight.
However, it would be advisable to see a physician as certain medical problems like rhythm disturbances need to be ruled out.
Occasionally, low blood sugar/heavy physical exertion/ very hot and moist weather can also lead to this.
I hope your physician will check you over and will be better able to guide you further in this matter.
Regards
Dr Tejas Shah
