Episodes Of Heart Skipping Beat, X-ray Normal. ECG Shows Sinus Arrhythmia, Repolarization Disturbance. Meaning ?

I sought advice from my General Practitioner after experiencing an episode of 'my heart skipping a beat' last week. I had experienced this a few times before, the last time being 2 years ago, when I was pregnant and the cause was stress related. This time it happened when I rested after running and felt something 'unusual', so took my pulse rate.
My chest x-ray showed no abnormalities, all my bloods were fine. My ECG reported: sinus arrhythmia; slight repolarization disturbance (consider ischaemia, LV overload or aspecific change); small negative T in aVF with negative T in III; Borderline ECG.
I am a 28 year old female with no significant health issues.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
Sinus arrhythmia is not a heart disease.
It is just a normal variation in pulse rate.
Slight repolarisation disturbance in young age is nothing to worry about.

If not convinced better to do
1. 24 hour holter monitor
2. echocardiogram.
to rule out any heart disease
Consult a cardiologist with reports.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

General & Family Physician Dr. Athish Peter Margos R's  Response
Hello,
There is slight abnormality in the functioning of sinus node.So the rhythm will be slightly irregular.Thats why you feel those missing beats. And this is felt more when there is tachycardia,as is the case after exertion, as mentioned by you.In normal circumstances this does not cause any problem and the person can live a normal life. There will be no effect on the life expectancy either. The other ECG changes that have been mentioned by you including inverted T in iii and avf are also normally present in many individuals and nothing to be worried about. It may be useful for you to have an echocardiogram done to rule out any associated structural abnormalities.Repolarization disturbance is also normal and nothing to be worried about. So,relax and enjoy life.
