Every Now And Then My Heart Feels Like 'a Fish

Every now and then my heart feels like 'a fish flopping out of water'. That's the only way I can describe it. When this happens it takes my breath. It doesn't last very long...maybe a few seconds. Sometimes it can happen 5...10 times a day. Sometimes I can go weeks and it won't happen. It does it so hard that it feels like it's going to 'flop' out of my chest. It's very uncomfortable.
Also, every now and then I get a pain that starts on the left side of my chest and radiates up through the left side of my jaw. Now sure that is in any way related to the 'flopping' problem...
Any ideas?
