Excruciating Pain After Cortisone Injections Into Bursa After Total Hip Replacement
Had left total hip replacement 01/14/2008 due to bone spurs and osteoarthritis. I am 53 and just had cortisone injection into bursa on 1/09/2014. Now have excruciating pain. Have taken 4 pain pills since 12 noon today and 2 ibuprofen. Could I have an infection or? I had my right hip done in 12/2010 and on 05/16/2012 had a revision as the femoral rod did not integrated and I am still having s as me problem with pIn etc. Bone scan done in Oct 2014 showed loosening of femoral component. Any suggestions?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The cortisone injection is likely to reduce inflammation in the area. The acute pain that you are having is likely to be due to a mild injury caused by the needle itself. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
