Experienced Sudden Increase In Heart Rate While Playing , What Could Be The Problem ?

I am 19 years old, I was playing basketball for a period of time and I stopped to take a break and felt my heart skip a beat then had a hard heart beat. My heart rate was fast and I thought I was maybe just playing to hard and over exerted my self. Could it be anything?

Hi,
It is quite common for the heart to miss a beat and the following beat will be more noticeable. So do not worry, this does not indicate there is anything wrong with your heart.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger,
MBChB FRCA
