Experiencing Heavy And Irregular Menses And Pelvic Pain. What Is Normal Endometrial Thickness?
I am 38 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS last 8 months ago, but I have probably had it for years. Over the past year I have been experiencing heavy menses (bleed through every hour), migraines during menses, severe bloating, pelvic pain and irregular menses. My MD ordered a pelvic ultrasound and discovered my endometrial stripe was 1.5cm thick the week after menses. Is this normal thickness or cause for further testing? Additionally, I have a family history of uterine cancer.
During the week after the menstrual cycle, endometrial thickness is expected to be 5-7 mm. Your endometrial lining is slightly thicker than expected. So I would recommend following with ObGyn to get an endometrial biopsy done to rule out any atypical cells, especially given the family history of uterine cancer.
