Experiencing Leg Pain After Lying Down. Using Deep Heat And Taking Panadols For Alleviating Pain

I am 70 yr old female. The last fortnight have been experiencing leg pain when retiring in bed. This starts about 15 minutes after lying down. The pain is down the side of my leg from the knee down. It is a dragging pain and keeps me awake. Have been using deep heat and taking panadols to help alleviate the pain. During the day it is not too bad.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

If I were your doctor, I would have gone for a Doppler unltrasound for both lower limb vessels to rule out a DVT (deep vein thrombosis) at this point. Also an estimation of Vit D3 , serum calcium, and routine blood tests like a complete blood count (CBC), Blood sugar, etc are a must for such symptoms. In the meanwhile I would have prescribed you with some Vit E preparations, which work wonders at times in such cases. Further management would depend on the investigation reports.

I hope this information should help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in solving this problem. Thanks for using the healthcare magic forum for your health query. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
