Hi. I have been seeing a pain management doctor for a few months now. It seems like every new medicine he tries me on, I have some really bad side effects too. Do you have any suggestions to what there is out there for severe chronic pain that has to be managed on a 24 hour basis, that doesnt have such severe side effects?
hello, 1) it is necessary to find out cause if such severe and chronic abdominal pain as it decides treatment approach for underlying condition which causes pain. 2) also characteristics of pain i.e. location, type, severity, association with food are important. 3) generally such severe abdominal pain can be possible in chronic pancreatitis. in this case, if your pain is not responsive to medications then nerve block is indicated 4) in nerve block, anesthetic agent is injected directly into nerve which receive sendation from diseased organ. 5) but again, before concluding for nerve block it is necessary to evaluate for underlying condition which is responsible for development of pain
