Experiencing Some Fluid Retention In Abdomen, Lower Right Above The Pelvic Area. What Does This Mean?

Dr. Grief: Lately I have been experiencing some fluid retention in my abdomen--Lower, right above the pelvic area. What does this mean? It s accompanied by a slight burning feeling, too, as if something s inflamed. I don t necessarily experience any pain, although I have *occasionally* felt sharp pricking sensations in my ovaries. Could this be related to the fluid retention?

Helo ma'am.

Your description does not raise concern for fluid retention and it is impossible to assume this based on your presentation.

What would be the most wise next step would be a consultation with a doctor for a physical examination and an ultrasound examination of your abdomen and pelvic region to look for any abnormalities.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
