Extra Knuckle On Index Finger After Falling Down. Could This Be Dislocated Finger?

hi doctor,
i bent my fingers back when i fell over. now i seem to have an extra knuckle on my index finger which keeps clicking and i cannot make a proper fist. The fall happened approximately 6 months ago - i had it xrayed at the time and the nurse said there was no break.
Could it be dislocated? Any thoughts?
many thanks, Tony

Hello,
Yes, as you suspected it could be due to fracture following non union or malunion.
It may need the open reduction and internal fixation.
Please take the X- Ray again and confirm the reunion or malunion.
It is better to consult a Orthopedician now.
Because nurse may missed the fracture at that time.
If you had the proper treatment following immobilization, then your bone will be united now.

Hope this helps.
Please write back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
