Fallen Off Ladder, Headache, Small Pupils. Should I Take Him To Hospital?

My boyfriend just got home and stated that he fell off a 8 foot ladder. He fell approximately 10 to 13 feet , he said he doesn t remember falling and taking off his tool pouch after. My brother was there and said it appeared to him that he may have lost conciseness, he has a head ache, his head hurts, his pupils are small and he feels ill. Should I take him to the hospital or just keep an eye on him.

hello ,

thanks for the question

It is advisable to take him to a neurosurgeon at the earliest and get a CT scan done to rule out any intra cranial hemmorhage (bleed) for which he will need immediate treatment depending on the amount of bleed .

there is also a possibility of it being a minor concussion meaning a mild head injury without any intra cranial findings . But it can be confirmed only by a Ct scan .

In case its absolutely not possible for you to meet a doctor then look out for the following danger signs ......

1. any loss of consciousness
2. vomiting
3.bleeding through the ear , nose .
4. not oriented to time , place or person
5. not responding to commands
6. any neurological deficit like unable to move his limbs
7. periods of amnesia
8. convulsions (fits)

In case of any of these take him to a neurosurgeon immediately

Hi
Please take him to the hospital at the earliest.
History of fall followed by loss of consciousness, headache and pin point pupils needs urgent evaluation firstly to rule out any pontine bleed.
Investigation suggested: Non contrast CT Scan Brain
The CT scan can accurately pick up any head injury.
Then take him to the ER . Get his vitals checked : pulse, blood pressure and a thorough neurological examination.
Meanwhile watch for any vomiting, altered sensorium , ear/nose bleed, blurring of vision.
Thanks.
