Feel Bloating, Discharge And Pain On The Left Side. Had Complete Hysterectomy Due To Endometriosis. Any Active Endometriosis Left?
Hi I would like to know if medical practitioners believe in a condition called Ovarian Remnant Syndrome. I have had a full hysterectomy due to endometriosis with both ovaries removed. My left ovary had to be removed twice as it was so badly stuck down to the bowel that they did not remove it all in the first operation. This procedure was ten years ago and still today I feel like like I have a monthly cycle with bloating, discharge and pain on the left side every month. I keep getting told this cld not be happening as I am now in menopause. Iam on HRT and wondering if there is still some active endometriosis cld the eostrogen from the HRT still be feeding the endometriosis.
There is less possibility for remnant endometriosis now. Because there is ten years gap between the hysterectomy and starting of HRT according to your description. After removal of uterus the ovaries can work for few years like 3 to 4 years. Then because of absence of end organ they will also loose their function. But sometimes other tissues in the body like adipose tissue etc. can produce hormones. So you once consult gynecologist and go for ultrasound to find out the possible cause for pain, bloating etc. For more details you can ask me through: http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-sree-gouri-sr/63429 Take care.
