Feeling Tired After Taking Lamotrigine. When Should I Take This?

Hi! I was prescribed lamotrigene Thurs. I took first dose Friday.I had to leave work , I was so tired. Came home and slept 3 hours, then went to bed at 8 instead of 10:30pm. I have been searching to see if this med makes one tired, only can find insomnia. And should this be taken at bedtime not during the day? My doctor is on vacation, I was planning on asking CVS later. Any help you can give me??

Hi,
Lamotrigene does have many side-effects. Most of them are not serious. You do not mention why you have been prescribed this drug. It is often used to treat some forms of epilepsy and also bipolar disorder.
Tiredness is one of the side-effects and also loss of concentration. You should be careful about driving if the drug is making you feel drowsy.
If you are finding that you are becoming increasingly tired then it would be advisable to take take your medication in the evening before you go to bed.
I hope this has information has been of help to you.
