Hello, It is possible that both of you have acquired a viral infection that affects the inner ear which controls balance. Vertigo (acute onset) should be easily treatable, as symptomatic treatment towards the viral infection. Cinnarizine 25mg or Serc 8mg up to three times a day is recommended treatment. It can be used for 2 weeks. If these symptoms last longer than this, you may need to get a MRI brain scan done.
Best Wishes.
