Fell Off Ladder. Fractured And Swollen. Why Is It Hurting After This Long?
Hello, I fell off a ladder on saturday. Hand that braced fall has been aching since. Now, that hand is swelling . Is it possible there is a fracture if swelling is reduced by ice? If there is a fracture, what is done 5-7 days after the fall? Seems ridiculous to visit an emergency room when the accident happened days ago. Suggestions?
Hi, Loioli,
Thanks for query.
From your history it suggest that you might be having Colle's fracture.
Though 5-7 days passed but still some thing can be done.
Consult orthopedic surgeon and get examined.
Ok and bye.
It is hurting because you need treatment. You should have consulted a doctor, your symptoms are indicative of fracture or a hair-line crack. Do visit an orthopedic doctor and have your X-RAY done. You will get reports in no time. You will need a Plaster of Paris. There is nothing to be scared of.
The doctor will do the plaster, prescribe medications for relief from pain and give calcium tablets to help your bone get healed faster. You may need to keep the plaster for some days. The doctor will give you dates to re-visit him again and have the plaster removed. Do not sit back at home, you will spoil your hand. Take care.
