It started about a month ago when I went to the ER for a 102 fever, chills, pain in kidneys all the way up to my neck, off and on sharp pain under rib cage, sore throat and cough/cold symptoms. I had been exposed to someone with pneumonia so I thought it was that. A chest x-ray showed no pneumonia. They had me give a urine sample and they found blood in it and told me I had a UTI. I was given a script for bactrim and had a bad reaction to it, my symptoms were worse and I had a headache and terrible joint pain where I couldn't turn my wrists very well. I followed up with a family practice dr and was taken off the bactrim for possible sulfate allergy. I gave another urine sample and still they found blood. The dr told me the ER sample I gave as well as hers did not show an infection and that I never had a UTI. I had 3 abdominal ultra sounds which showed 3 ovarian cysts and one had ruptured which they said was probably the reason for my symptoms. They also asked that I schedule a follow up ultrasound in 2 months to be sure the other cysts went away. So today I had the same exact symptoms as I did a month ago and figured another cyst was rupturing. I tried to stay at work but the fever, chills and kidney pain made it difficult to teach a bunch of 6th graders. I called my OB first to see if I should follow up with him if it was the cysts they found. But a nurse said if I was having kidney pain I should follow up with the family practice dr and that cysts would have lower abdominal pain -which I don't have. I went back to the family practice doctor today and still there is blood in my urine. The tested for the flu and that was negative. Do you have any information for me? Should I schedule to see a urologist ? Thanks. 33 yr old woman
